It's done. The 78th Yssingeaux carnival will be held on April 4, 5 and 6, at the same time as the funfair. Volunteers from the La Fol'Yss association, fairground workers and elected officials met at the town hall on January 15 to validate the dates and outline the outline of the event.
Everyone agreed that the two events should be linked again. The feedback given to everyone was in this direction. Yohan Peyronon, president of the entertainment committee, confirms this: “We have had requests from the population as well as new members of the office to organize our events at the same time as the vogue. All volunteers will be available and the program will be revealed soon. »
The main lines of the program are known
For their part, the fairgrounds, who took matters into their own hands last year, are delighted. They will open on Friday after school and will offer fireworks to liven up the first evening if the weather permits.
Saturday will be devoted to the children's carnival on the Place de la Grenette (or to the Foyer rural in case of bad weather) and the ball at the Foyer rural. The corso will start on Sunday afternoon. The route has not yet been finalized. The festivities will end with the burning of Mirandou.
All float creators will be welcome to participate in the grand parade. Registrations are open on the “La Fol'Yss” Facebook page or by email at [email protected].
A first in six years
For various reasons, the vogue and the corso have no longer taken place at the same time since April 6, 2019, when the parade took place on a Saturday. In 2020 and 2021, the carnival did not take place due to a lack of volunteers and then the health crisis.
-In 2022, heavy snowfall forced organizers to postpone the parade until May 1. The 2023 carnival took place over two weekends, at the beginning of April for the rides and the ball and at the end of April for the floats.
Last year, Fol'Yss was unlucky by scheduling all of the festivities for the end of April. The fairgrounds were unable to make it on that date and the parade had to be postponed once again due to the weather. It finally took place on July 21 at the same time as the summer flea market.
Several changes have taken place in the Fol'Yss office. The new office is made up of Yohan Peyronon, president; Mathieu Souvignet, vice-president; Louise Sahuc, secretary; Sophie Fanget, assistant secretary; Chris Degan and Laurie Thivollet, treasurers; Pauline André, communications manager.
