Mauritian customs officers, while checking packages destined for Island, discovered that one of them contained synthetic drugs. The market value of the product is estimated in the sister island at 1.1 million rupees (nearly €23,000). This package coming from Dubai had been sent from Shanghai to China.

IonNews tells us this Wednesday morning that on January 18, 2025, while carrying out an inspection of packages in transit at Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport, Mauritian customs officers discovered synthetic drugs. The package of drugs was shipped from Shanghai to Dubai where it was transferred to another plane to arrive in Mauritius before, normally, heading to Reunion Island.

The sister island's law enforcement agencies estimate that this merchandise sold there would have brought in 1.1 million Mauritian Rupees (€22,753).

The website which reveals this information does not specify whether the name or address of the recipient was mentioned on the package.

Details of the circumstances of this seizure and the contents of the package were transmitted by the courts of Mauritius. They are now available to the investigation services of Reunion Island.
