A year ago, an eternity in politics, the main figures of the Lot-et-Garonnais RN no longer made the bastide a priority for the municipal elections of March 2026. The work provided by Guillaume Lepers, still mayor at the time, was “satisfactory” according to them. Enough to consider concentrating their efforts on other cities in the department and not lining up a list against it.
Since then, thanks to the legislative elections following the dissolution and an overhaul of the local political landscape, the cards have been reshuffled. The victory of Guillaume Lepers against the outgoing RN deputy, Annick Cousin, gave rise to a feeling of revenge. Today, everything suggests that a list will see the light of day.
New union of rights
A list that would make the brand new union of the rights palpable. Several steps can be used to illustrate this. The first dates back to the summer. Geoffroy Gary has left his position as departmental coordinator of Eric Zemmour's party, Reconquête!. “I was not in the logic of the party, which wanted to position legislative candidates, including me, against the outgoing RN deputies. So I acted as a fuse. Here, I have been working with the RN for some time, we were considering a merger. I was not going to position myself against Annick Cousin or send someone against Hélène Laporte…”

The political troublemaker, a long-time supporter of the union of the rights, is beginning to realize his dream. Locally, it became even more concrete in November. Delegate of the Les Républicains party for the constituency, the advisor responsible for monitoring the work within the Villeneuvoise municipal majority, Freddy Gueudin, took a step aside. A step towards the right and Eric Ciotti's party, the Union of Rights for the Republic (UDR), of which he became the departmental referent.
Past and upcoming meetings
A choice which caused the new mayor of the bastide, Gérard Régnier, to react. In addition to a withdrawal of his delegation, Freddy Gueudin was de facto switched to the opposition. Posing a few days later alongside Geoffroy Gary, Annick Cousin and Sébastien Delbosq, the new UDR activist did not seem too perturbed.
“The context has changed,” admits the departmental secretary of the RN. We didn't have a suitor at the time. In the meantime, we have formed alliances. Today, we are thinking about it, it is clearly on the table. And the unsuccessful candidate in the last legislative elections in Agen continued: “I had good relations with Guillaume Lepers. But he had some unkind words about us during the legislative elections, clearly calling for us to vote for Michel Lauzzana or Christophe Courrègelongue. He made his choice.
