-A successful match
For their return to competition, the Greens won their first victory of 2025! Opposed to a direct competitor for the podium, the Stéphanois took the upper hand over OGC Nice, whom they had held in check during their last confrontation in September (0-0). Thanks to total commitment and remarkable intensity, Frédéric Dugand's players increased ball recoveries, putting their opponents under pressure and causing errors. It was on a high interception that ASSE found the opening. After effective pressing, Nadir El Jamali delivered a precise cross in front of the goal, allowing Issam Cheikh to finish with a header (ASSE 1-0 Nice, 27th).
In the second half, the Greens maintained their seriousness and doubled the lead. A new paid pressing led to successful collective action, finalized by Paul Eymard (ASSE 2-0 Nice, 58th). This valuable victory allows ASSE to regain three points on leader Marseille while keeping Nice at a comfortable distance.
The reaction of coach Dugand (ASSE)
“It was a good match. We knew that Nice was a talented team, the game plan was to go after them and use density to recover the balls quickly. There was a real riot of energy from the players who broke our records for distance covered in a match this season We did some good things forward, from the combined game I saw some pleasure in playing together!
