Despite a low population, the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence is impacted by various sources of air pollution. For ProvenceSébastien Mathiot, territorial action manager for Atmosud, takes stock of the situation.
How would you describe the air quality situation in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence?
The air quality in the Paca region, as a whole, is improving from year to year. This may seem a little surprising, because our roads are more and more congested, more and more of us live there, and therefore have to heat ourselves. But technological progress means that the levels of pollutants measured in the territories are decreasing, with the reduction in the quantities emitted by vehicles. Levels of nitrogen oxide and particulate matter in the air and even ozone concentrations tend to decrease. It's good to take.
