And that’s not all.

The exterior digital billboards — which have been visibly malfunctioning for several months — will also be replaced.

“Our goal is for citizens to be able to easily find answers to their questions, whether it concerns permits or regulations,” explains Julie Bourdon, mayor of Granby, to the media present at the municipal council meeting on Monday evening.

Internal and external consultations determined “what was wrong with the site.”

Artificial intelligence and monthly newsletter

According to the mayor, the addition of artificial intelligence technology should make it “easy to find information on the site.”

This new redesign of the website will modernize the site’s intranet portal – dedicated to City employees -, the very first intranet having been set up at the end of 2017.

Elected officials from the municipal council approved Monday evening the criteria which will guide the selection of the company selected following a call for tenders which will be launched in the coming weeks.

Julie Bourdon suggests that the new site should allow the establishment of a monthly newsletter – “as citizens have already asked us”.

The municipal council wants to have its new site “for this summer, that’s the objective”.

Five new outdoor LED screens

The quality of the display of digital display screens leaves something to be desired, as many of you have surely noticed.

The City has retained the services of a company which will replace five of them.

These are the two (double-sided) located at the corner of Leclerc Boulevard and Dufferin Street, the two (double-sided) Mountain Street, near the Patrick-Hackett bridge, and the one at the corner of Pierre- Laporte and Denison Street.

In addition, the one located on Saint-Jacques Street, near Simonds Street, will be moved “to ensure that it is more visible,” explains Ms. Bourdon.

Only the one located on the industrial boulevard will remain as is.

These panels will have “new technology”, says the mayor.

“We will make sure to [pouvoir] play video clips,” she gives as an example.

And if parts break, “we want them to be able to be changed quickly”.

The company selected — the lowest compliant bidder — is Système E inc, for a total amount, taxes included, of $443,544.

The contract budget estimate provided for an expenditure of $505,000.

Their implementation is planned for this summer.

Better reach citizens

The municipal council therefore wishes to put in place as many means of communication as possible to reach citizens.

“These screens are still very important for us, because they are what allows us to communicate with citizens,” illustrates the mayor.
