the essential
Every week, La Dépêche du Midi brings you its selection of unmissable outings and shows for the Tarn. Concerts, exhibitions, festivals… Good deals to consume without moderation.
Albi. “Crisis of laughter” at Champollion University
For its traditional meeting “Le Retour du Thursday”, the INU Champollion foyer welcomes an original creation. Free and open to all, this evening promises a great laugh while talking about…Economics! The Goldoni Family's show “1978, laughing fit” is a successful bet: explaining subprimes, debt, self-regulation and the ECB while laughing.
An extraordinary conference, because after all, economic sciences are also full of paradoxes and contradictions. Between object theater and acrobatics, global crises take on a whole new dimension. See you Thursday January 23 at 6:30 p.m.
“Reading nights” in Tarn media libraries
For the 9th edition, the Media Libraries are opening their doors wide to “Nuits de la lecture”. This event takes place across the country from January 23 to 26, with the aim of rediscovering the treasures of literature through festive activities for the whole family. The Tarn is no exception.
Musical readings and meetings with an author in Lavaur, aperitif reading and storytelling stroll in Rabastens, concert and discovery of old documents in Castres, theater shows and participatory dictation in Albi, treasure hunt in Carmaux…
-Lautrec. Boucan at Café Plùm
The Toulouse duo Boucan is a regular on our Tarn stages. On tour for his third album “Ballad of John Kairos”, he will be visiting Lautrec on Saturday January 25. Two screams, a double bass, bogus guitars and banjos: Boucan defends free and unclassifiable music.
Between improvisations, rock, jazz, punk and French songs, he explores inspirations from Africa, the Amazon and the American West. The duo doesn't hold back anything. Mathias Imbert and Brunoi Zarn play free and limitless music; which they deliver as an invitation to dance. Reservation recommended.
White. An exhibition invites us to think about the death penalty
Until February 9, the ArtCoBlan cultural space is hosting an installation by Yaron Rosner. Under the title “The Protocol”, the exhibition questions the death penalty. Known for his committed work, the visual artist wishes to provoke reflection by revealing the technologies and protocols of killing that still exist in the world.
This dive into the heart of the execution tools prompts us to question the ideological mechanisms that underlie the practice of the death penalty. With a question in the background: do technological progress serve moral values?
Labruguière. Dance show at the Rond-Point
Friday evening the Le Rond-Point cultural center hosts a dance show inspired by the work of Dutch painter Piet Mondrian. This choreographic creation, carried on stage by a dancer, creates a whole imagination around bodies and abstract shapes.
Lines, squares, rectangles appear on stage, follow one another and reveal a colorful canvas. The performer takes hold of them and invites the public to discover these objects with her. Leaving everyone's imagination free to write their own story in front of this dialogue between bodies and shapes. A show to see with the family.
