Félix Bingui, alleged leader of the Yoda clan, one of the main drug trafficking groups in Marseille, is in the process of being extradited from Morocco to France, according to a source close to the case cited by AFP this Monday, January 20.
Arrested in Casablanca on March 8, 2024, this thirty-year-old from Alès (Gard) was wanted for drug trafficking and criminal conspiracy. An Interpol red notice had been issued against him, on the mandate of a Marseille judge. Nicknamed “the cat”, Bingui allegedly found refuge in Morocco several months before his arrest.
The Yoda clan, which he is believed to lead, is embroiled in a violent turf war with rival group DZ Mafia. In 2023, 70% of homicides or attempted homicides by organized gangs in Marseille were linked to this conflict, according to the prosecutor’s statements on Franceinfo on December 22.
