After several weeks of waiting and discussions, Pape Thiaw’s file was finally closed by the Senegalese Federation (FSF).

The president of the FSF and the Minister of Sports agreed on the appointment of former Senegalese international Pape Thiaw at the head of the Senegal Lions. The latter had been acting for several weeks after the non-renewal of Aliou Cissé’s contract. Chosen unanimously by the executive committee of the FSF, Pape Thiaw can now look forward to his future calmly, with a contract in his pocket and clearly defined objectives. The successor to Aliou Cissé, after having succeeded brilliantly in his interim period, notably with 4 victories in as many qualifying matches for the 2024 African Cup of Nations (CAN), thus allowing Senegal to qualify for the competition, sees himself now responsible for continuing the legacy left by his predecessor.

Regarding his staff, the Senegalese technician will have Teddy Pellerin as first assistant. However, the question of choosing the second deputy remains unresolved. According to information, Pape Thiaw decided to take his time to make his choice, in consultation with the national technical director (DTN) Mayacine Mar.
