Exports of goods and services should grow, in volume, by 7.7% in 2025, after 7.9% forecast in 2024, forecasts the High Commission for Planning (HCP).

Benefiting from vigorous international demand, exports of global trades would have experienced positive dynamics in 2024, particularly in the automobile and aeronautics sectors, and should maintain their performance in 2025, explains the HCP in its Budget economic forecast for 2025.

In addition, exports of phosphate and its derived products would have recorded notable growth in 2024, driven by strong demand from main partners, and should slow down in 2025 due to the base effect.

On the other hand, shipments in the textile sector are expected to show moderate growth, limited by weak foreign demand and the persistence of tough competition in international markets.

Furthermore, after a moderate change in 2024, the exportable supply of agricultural and agri-food products should benefit in 2025 from a planned recovery in agricultural production.

In this context, the volume of exports of goods should record an increase of 7.4% in 2025, instead of the 7.6% estimated in 2024.

At the same time, the volume of imports of goods and services is expected to increase by 7.9% in 2025, compared to 11.1% forecast last year.

Thus, the contribution of net external demand to economic growth in 2025 should remain negative by 0.8 points after -2.3 points in 2024.
