HD version of the game released on Wii in 2010 and, already, ported in 2013 to 3DS, Donkey Kong Country Returns HD has been available since last Thursday on Nintendo Switch.
And even though its release was somewhat overshadowed by the publication of the first trailer for the Nintendo Switch 2the game still made news after it was revealed that its end credits did not mention Retro Studiosthe studio that developed the original game for Wii.
Instead, the credits simply state that Donkey Kong Country Returns HD East “ work based” from the original developers.
Honestly, we wonder how such an absence can be justified, especially when we know that Donkey Kong Country Returns HD is almost identical to the original title, the controls adapted to the Switch and HD too.
Contacted about this by Eurogamer, Nintendo made the following statement:
We believe in giving proper credit to everyone involved in creating or contributing to the creation of a game, and we value the contributions of all staff during the development process
-
In summary: we are no further ahead.
Eurogamer requested clarification from Nintendo and we will not hesitate to update this post if other details reach us.
As a reminder, Donkey Kong Country Returns HD has been available since January 16, 2025 on Nintendo Switch. For more info, notre test complet de Donkey Kong Country RETURNS HD sur Nintendo Switch !
