Bénédicte Durand, France Industrie: “strategic challenges in 2025”

Reindustrialization, competitiveness and attractiveness of professions, all in a constraining environment. Here is the overall observation drawn up by Bénédicte Durand. For the co-lead Industry Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, reindustrialization and employment are two dynamics to preserve pour 2025.

“Reindustrialization has become a national priority to strengthen economic sovereignty and reduce dependence on imports. However, this ambition requires a stable and incentive framework, with support measures for industry such as reductions in charges, the Research Tax Credit (CIR) and the reduction in production taxes“, she explains.

For the director of the Ardèche company Altheora, the challenge also lies in energy competitiveness and European harmonization.

The cost of energy is a key issue for the competitiveness of French companies, particularly the most energy-intensive. With the planned end of the ARENH system (Regulated access to historic nuclear electricity, Editor's note)in 2025, France's competitive advantage in its carbon-free energy could disappear. Faced with fierce competition from China and protectionism from the United States, the urgency is to negotiate supplies at competitive prices. Added to this constraint is the French and European administrative complexity, including the implementation of the CSRD, which imposes restrictive extra-financial reporting and diverts resources from innovation projects.“.

Bénédicte Durand does not, however, forget one constitutive element of these major issues: the industry must attract young people in search of meanings. “In five years, the number of apprentices has doubled, and the outlook on industrial professions has become more positive but not to the point of triggering the desire to join our sectors“, she notes.

Opportunities and industry transformations in 2025

And the latter continued: “However, the industry offers rewarding careers and paths that guarantee good employability as demonstrated by the collective initiatives supported by France Industrie: the industry week, the tour of France of our industries with the French Fab, the exhibition extraordinary Viva Fabrica, or the Global Industrie exhibition which will be held in in March 2025. The success of the Forindustrie initiative, which offers an immersion in the industrial metaverse based on a game and a competition between educational establishments brought together more than 100,000 young people. Perhaps a promise of a new craze for the industry?!“.
