The leader of La insoumise (LFI), Jean-Luc Mélenchon, announced this Sunday that the Socialist Party (PS) “is no longer a partner”, and this a few days after the decision of the PS not to vote for the motion of censure brought by the Insoumis against the government.

“The Socialist Party is no longer a partner, it is an ally. And again, by circumstance,” declared Jean-Luc Mélenchon on RTL/Public Senate.

And added: “They do not vote for censure but are in opposition. Nobody understands anything.”

Last Tuesday, two days before the vote on the motion of censure, Jean-Luc Mélenchon threatened to exclude from the New Popular Front (NFP / Left Coalition) the deputies who did not support the motion tabled by LFI against of François Bayrou's government shortly after his general policy speech.

“By not voting for censure, the PS is bringing down the NFP,” he explained.

As a reminder, the motion of censure tabled by LFI against the government of François Bayrou was rejected last Thursday after a debate organized in the National Assembly.

In total, this motion, also signed by the communists and ecologists, only received 131 votes out of the 288 required to be adopted.

The socialist deputy and First Secretary of the PS, Olivier Faure, whose party did not vote for the motion, marking a break with the political line of LFI, recalled that the pension reform “remains a social and democratic wound”, welcoming however the “gesture” of François Bayrou which “opened up the possibility of an alternative”.

“We have chosen not to practice the policy of the worst because it can lead to the worst policy, that is to say the arrival of the extreme right, this is the reason why we do not “We will not censor”, he explained at the podium, addressing the Executive directly.
