This Thursday, January 16, Yoann Barbet was a guest on the captain's Twitch channel
Cédric Yambéré. With him, they discussed several subjects and in particular the career of the former captain of the
Girondins de Bordeaux. He notably returned to his complicated return to the club in 2022. He had to wait until the last moments of the transfer window to be qualified.
« I tell myself that it's great, that it's gone. I sign and a week after the DNCG passes, for the club it's dead, they wanted to demote them. I say to myself 'Fuck this is not possible…' I was training, I was there since June 23, from the first day. I was training and there I see that, that the club is dead, that they are appealing and it is still dead. There, I said to my agent 'Listen, I absolutely want to stay but just in case, look for something because if the club goes under, I can't stay'. We're going to play a friendly match, I wasn't sure, nothing, but it doesn't matter. I'm training and you never know if you have to be ready. In the end the club is good, we are maintained a week before the start of the championship. I tell myself that it's perfect, that we are going to be made official and finally, with Vital (Nsimba) we cannot be made official because the payroll is too high, we have to downsize players to be able to register. . We tell ourselves that in a week, one or two will leave, that it will be good. Then one week, two weeks, three weeks… You arrive at the end of the transfer window at the end of August and we are still not registered. We wonder how we're doing it, how it's going to happen. Afterwards, with Vital we were at the end of the contract so we could sign even after the deadline. But the players who were under contract, those who were bought or loaned, had to be signed beforehand. All departures took place on the last days and we signed at 11:30 p.m. What if I had tears? Oh yeah, it was unbearable. The pressure? It was mainly the pressure because in the end you tell yourself that it will do it but when you arrive half an hour before the end of the transfer window, you start to tell yourself that it is hot. If it doesn't work, everyone has done their transfer window, you have refused several clubs and you find yourself with nothing. So that was a relief. We called each other afterwards with Vital and we said 'that's it, we're finally players and we're going to be able to play'. »
