Since it was released, the list of 42 players called up by Fabien Galthié has sparked a lot of debate. For what ? Because we find the names of Hugo Auradou and Oscar Jégou in this list. Opinion is really divided regarding the summons of the two players, involved since this summer in a serious case of gang rape.
If the woman who filed a complaint against the two French internationals has appealed (the hearing to examine this appeal will take place on February 10), remember that for the moment, Oscar Jégou and Hugo Auradou have been acquitted since the Argentine justice system has decided to dismiss the case in this case. The FFR therefore declared, after having learned of this court decision, that the two players could once again be selected for the French team.
If, on a sporting level, there is not much to complain about this summons, many supporters, observers, even former players, say they are scandalized by the recall of the second row of Pau and from the third line of La Rochelle because they believe that there is a big problem in terms of morality. Certainly, Jégou and Auradou were declared innocent by the courts, but their behavior after the match in Mendoza has, as they explain, largely damaged the reputation of the French XV and French rugby in general.
For this, they had to be sanctioned by depriving them of the French team for a little longer. Thus, since the announcement of the list of 42, scandalized reactions have multiplied on the web, particularly on the social network X.
I would say that in the case of Jaminet, the sanctions were logical.
It is for the others that there is a big problem.
Auradou and Jegou it's shameful that they are called— Thomas Barthoulot (@Thom_Barthoulot) https://twitter.com/Thom_Barthoulot/status/1880340683334250925?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw
Once again missing the point the Galthié selected auradou and jegou it's shameful provocation even they soiled the jersey and no sanction of rugby ???? French even the coaches and the staff are guilty of the mysteries between rape drinking and even the death of the little boy

Auradou and Jegou selected, really there? Of all the possible choices, they were the ones chosen despite the controversy surrounding them? ????????♀️ https://t.co/nccMU374OS

I don't understand this decision. It is Galthié himself who speaks about the values of rugby and the importance of wearing the jersey. Why then taint the image of this sport by recalling Jegou and Auradou? https://t.co/DzPOuCgJWM

For now I agree
Jegou and Auradou have nothing to do there, even with a dismissal, the French Team is also a question of image— El Julito ????????✊️????⚫️ (@Ju_LeNicois) https://twitter.com/Ju_LeNicois/status/1879897362975674456?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw
Our sport is still losing its dignity, Jegou and Auradou it's a shame, it could at least wait until the affair is completely over, the message sent is catastrophic

I was measured until now, especially since I was around him a little, but the Jegou / Auradou episode is the last straw
I don't even ask the question of watching the Tournament ????— Julien (@julio8181) https://twitter.com/julio8181/status/1879889488861868312?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw
Auradou and Jegou are a scandal. They dishonored the French team and the spirit of rugby. They no longer deserve this great team even if they were cleared they were completely drunk and there was cocaine in the past. What a picture!

You have to believe that you have to have a criminal record to be recognized in the French team!!!
What a shame to take back Jegou and Auradou, after the international laughing stock of French rugby, we're doing it again!!
Lamentable— laz atami (@lazdeblaz) https://twitter.com/lazdeblaz/status/1879612518806782161?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw
So certainly the two players are in the group of 42 but from there to being part of the 23 who will face Wales, nothing has been done yet. And this debate is clearly not based on the sporting performances of the two players, but on the image that this sends. Some opinions are much more virulent than others, and we feel a lot of embarrassment surrounding the summoning of the two players.
To summarize
Since it was released, the list of 42 players called up by Fabien Galthié has sparked a lot of debate. For what ? Because we find the names of Hugo Auradou and Oscar Jégou in this list. If sporting performances are not necessarily debated, Internet users denounce a big problem in terms of morality.
