It's a little a Christmas storyin any case a happy ending for the commune of Bellefontaine, in Haut-Jura, which on October 20, 2024 placed an ad via the platform to help revive businesses in villages in rural areas offered by the 1 p.m. news on TF1, Sos Villagesin order to look for a buyer for the restaurant l'Epicéa.
“The Municipality of Bellefontaine offers management of a restaurant ideally located at the foot of the ski slopes and hiking trails in the heart of the Haut-Jura Regional Natural Park… This restaurant is just waiting for you! »
The restaurant L’Epicéalocated at village center de Bellefontaine, a small ski resort with less than 500 inhabitants in the off-season. Installed at the foot of the slopes, at 4066 rue des Fontaines, at the bottom of the Risoux forestis managed by a public land establishment. Composed of a large dining room, a beautiful sunny terrace as well as a fully equipped kitchen, with two apartments upstairsthe restaurant was managed for 19 years by Caroline and Olivier, who finally handed over in 2021. In January 2023, SAS Luckysth took over management but the experience unfortunately came to an end.
It is then that Martine Guyonthe mayor of the town of Bellefontaine had the idea of post this ad on SOS Villagesto which Laurent Oracz and his associate Florent Corneloup applied.
The Spruce was thus able to reopen its doors for Christmas 2024, for the largest joy of skiers who flocked to the small station, thanks to the first snowfall of the season.
-Laurent Oracz knows Haut-Jura well having come often on vacation in Lamoura.
“I love the mountains, the snow, skiing. I ran a restaurant for five years in Vesoul, and was director of the restaurants at the Mâcon and Bourg-en-Bresse golf courses. Our ambition is to build long-term loyalty among locals.”
A turning point right at the right time : THE ideal snow conditions during the Christmas vacationmade it possible to launch the activity and to hire two employees. Brasserie, on-site catering or takeaway, are on the menu. The large room can accommodate 75 guestsand the terrace around fifty.
