The prospects for cooperation in the field of fishing were at the center of a meeting, Thursday in Rabat, between the Secretary of State to the Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forests, in charge of Maritime Fisheries, Zakia Driouich, and the Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to Morocco, Khalid Ben Salem Bamkhalif.
During this meeting, Ms. Driouich praised the privileged relations which unite Morocco and the Sultanate of Oman, under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI and Sultan Haitham ben Tariq Al Said, reiterating Morocco’s attachment to strengthen ties of friendship and cooperation with the Sultanate.
Recalling the common ambitions of the two countries to develop structuring projects in the maritime fishing sector, Ms. Driouich reaffirmed Morocco’s commitment to deepening its economic partnership with the Sultanate of Oman, with particular emphasis on opportunities and potential. what the Kingdom would offer in terms of fisheries resources.

The exchanges focused on several priority areas, in particular the strengthening of technical and scientific cooperation, through exchanges on the sustainable management of fisheries, oceanographic research and the use of modern maritime surveillance technologies, as well as the development of aquaculture through training programs and capacity exchanges in sustainable aquaculture.
-The discussions also addressed the need to encourage investments, particularly in port infrastructure and the processing of fishery products and the strengthening of trade in fishery products. Thus, the two parties agreed to organize joint cultural events and the establishment of educational twinning in the maritime fishing sector.
The Sultanate of Oman has confirmed its participation in the 7th edition of the Halieutis 2025 Show, following the invitation of the Secretary of State for Maritime Fisheries. This participation will constitute a privileged opportunity to strengthen bilateral relations and develop new opportunities for cooperation in the fisheries sector.
