Insufficient progress
During the last meeting, modifications were made to decrees 2006-392 and 74-347, thus responding to old demands of the SELS/A. These adjustments, although necessary, come late for a category of teachers who have been waiting for effective recognition for years. These reforms should not mask the remaining challenges, as they only cover part of the expectations.
Blockages that raise questions
Despite these revisions, three essential points continue to pose problems:
1. The optional extension of the retirement age to 65: Why so much resistance to a measure which is not even obligatory, but simply optional? Refusing this option means depriving experienced teachers of the opportunity to continue contributing to the education system.
2. The revaluation of retirement pensions: Teachers, after having devoted their lives to training future generations, deserve a decent retirement. The government’s lack of clear commitment on this point is an affront to their dignity.
3. Budget allocation: Covering the medical and social costs of decision-making teachers remains a major challenge. This delay is all the more incomprehensible since budgetary solutions exist, but seem to be relegated to the background.
A worrying inertia
-These blockages reflect a lack of political will which frustrates teachers and SELS/A. While clear commitments had been made during previous meetings, the slowness in their implementation reflects a worrying gap between words and actions.
SELS/A will not give in
SELS/A remains determined to continue its fight for decision-making teachers. He calls on the government to respect its commitments and demonstrate a real desire to resolve these structural problems. Teachers should not be condemned to waiting forever while their situation deteriorates.
A call for collective action
Faced with this situation, SELS/A calls on all teachers to mobilize. Solidarity and determination will be the keys to obtaining tangible results and putting an end to the injustices that plague the sector.
Conclusion
The progress obtained cannot make us forget the persistent blockages which hinder real justice for decision-making teachers. SELS/A, faithful to its commitment, will continue to denounce delays and inadequacies while demanding rapid and concrete solutions.
