(Montreal) A pedestrian is in critical condition after being hit by a truck in the Ahuntsic-Cartierville borough, in Montreal, Wednesday evening.

The accident occurred around 6:30 p.m. at the intersection of De Salaberry and Grenet streets.
“According to initial information, obtained from various witnesses, the cube truck was traveling north on rue Grenet and, at rue De Salaberry, it made a turn to the west. At the same time, the pedestrian was crossing Rue de Salaberry in a northerly direction. That’s when there was a collision. The 67-year-old man was transported to a hospital in critical condition,” said Jean-Pierre Brabant, spokesperson for the Montreal City Police Service (SPVM).
For his part, the driver of the vehicle, a 30-year-old man, suffered no injuries.
A security perimeter has been erected in this area, which is closed to traffic.
Investigators specializing in collisions will analyze the scene to better understand the circumstances leading to this accident.
