The events took place between 2016 and 2017. In court, one of the victims said she had fallen seriously ill a few weeks after their unprotected sex. It was while taking tests that she discovered she was carrying HIV. She then immediately warned the young man, who ended up revealing the truth to her.
“He ruined the lives of three people. We'll always wonder why he did that.”she said. Originally from Ivory Coast, the defendant stopped his treatment for AIDS upon his arrival in France.
-“I was unconscious at the time. It's unfair. I only thought of myself”he said on the stand. According to an expert psychologist, it was “in denial of his illness”.
