This Wednesday, seven months after the Mendoza affair which shook French rugby, Fabien Galthié will recall Oscar Jegou and Hugo Auradou to prepare the VI Nations Tournament with the XV of France. As he suggested on RMC on Monday.
Seven months after the sadly memorable tour in Argentina, the second line of Pau, Hugo Auradou, and the third line of La Rochelle, Oscar Jegou, will be among the 42 players called up on Wednesday by Fabien Galthié and his staff, as the coach had suggested on RMC, to prepare for the VI Nations Tournament and the first match against Wales (January 31 at the Stade de France).
“These two players are selectable today”, explained the coach in the podcast Between the Friends. “We have always reasoned sportingly. From the moment there was a judgment awaiting them, it was out of the question to select them. They have been playing at the club again for three months, they play every weekend, they are judged on a sporting plan in the same way as the other players.”
XV of France: Fabien Galthié exceptional guest of the Potos!
They returned to competition three months ago
Oscar Jegou, particularly impressive, has played eight matches with his club (five in the Top 14 and three in the Champions Cup), including seven as a starter (for three tries scored) since November 2. And Hugo Auradou, who returned to the competition earlier, on October 5, played twelve matches (ten in the Top 14, two in the Challenge Cup) for nine starts. He took particular advantage of the injuries of Alexandre Roumat (Toulouse), Pierre Bochaton (UBB), but also the situation of Mickaël Guillard (LOU), injured at the end of November and who has not played again since, to find the group at the start year 2025.
They have one selection each, on July 6 in Mendoza (victory for the Blues 28 to 13) before the start of the case which concerned them for aggravated rape. A dismissal of the case was pronounced by the Argentine courts, but the plaintiff appealed.
