LA COURNEUVE: Seine-Saint-Denis school chess championship on February 1st

See you on February 1st to support the budding champions!

The Chess Club – Génération Miracle – is proud to announce the organization of the Departmental School Championship on February 1, 2025. This major event will bring together school and college students from all over Seine-Saint-Denis for a day of competition .

After several years of involvement and success in the practice and teaching of chess, the Club continues to promote this cerebral sport among Courneuve youth, by combining initiation, development and competition.

The school championship is open to the public and will be a fantastic opportunity to discover the young talents of Seine-Saint-Denis. Games will take place throughout the day, and an awards ceremony will close the event celebrating the participants' performances.

A unique event to promote academic failures

300 young players from primary schools and colleges from across the department are expected, reflecting the growing popularity of chess in Seine-Saint-Denis and beyond. Students will compete in teams in a friendly environment, combining competitive spirit and educational values. This event is a continuation of the efforts of the Génération Miracle club, which regularly intervenes in the city's schools, leading weekly workshops to introduce young people to chess and develop their strategic, cognitive and social skills.

“Chess is a sport, and so naturally when you become strong, you want to compete. Today, thanks to these tournaments, there are several young people who are promising, they are budding champions, and it is encouraging to see them improve little by little. » explains Romain Mariller, chess teacher at Génération Miracles.

The key role of Génération Miracle in the development of chess at La Courneuve

Created in 2021, the Miracle Generation Club has become a essential reference of chess in Seine-Saint-Denis. Active in several elementary schools, all middle schools, and media libraries, it offers hours of workshops supervised by certified facilitators every week. These activities allow young people to discover the game of chess, to progress, and to access local, regional and national competitions.
