As revealed by The Parisian and confirmed by RMC Sport, the National Rugby League was the victim of a scam orchestrated by one of its former accountants. This forty-year-old, ousted a few weeks after his hiring in 2023, replaced the RIB of a service provider with his own in order to steal 82,000 euros.
The National Rugby League defrauded by one of its former employees. As revealed by The Parisian and confirmed by RMC Sport, the League was the victim of an accountant who briefly joined its workforce during the summer of 2023. The man admitted the facts last week during his custody in the premises of the judicial police of Clichy (Hauts-de-Seine).
Aged 42, this boss of an IT company admitted to having embezzled 82,000 euros from the LNR, which had fired him just a few weeks after his hiring.
The LNR filed a complaint in December 2023
The accountant domiciled in Rueil-Malmaison (Hauts-de-Seine) explained that he replaced the RIB of an LNR service provider (responsible for sound entertainment for sporting and festive events) with his own to recover the funds. The League, whose offices are located in the 17th arrondissement of the capital, filed a complaint with the Paris prosecutor's office in December 2023, two months after discovering the anarch.
After his confession, the accountant responsible for the fraud was released. He will have to appear before a court judge in the coming weeks, as part of a summons with admission of guilt. In the meantime, investigations continue into this case.
