On the morning of Tuesday, January 14, 2025, a fire broke out in La Réole (Gironde), rue des Frères Faucher, near La Poste. Around 8:15 a.m., firefighters were called to reports of a fire in two houses and an old bicycle store.

Four people were evacuated

When they arrived, the fire had fully grown. According to the first elements collected by The Republican South-Gironde, no casualties have yet been reported. Four residents of the two burning houses were evacuated when firefighters arrived.

Their condition did not require evacuation to nearby hospitals. The fire is under control, but operations to extinguish the fire and protect the houses adjacent to the affected houses are continuing. For now, the origin of the start of the fire is not yet known.

More than 400 m2 went up in smoke

Material side, 70 m² of a first house were completely destroyed145 m² for a terraced house and finally 200 m² for the old cycle store.

The fire could have been much more serious.

Thanks to the rapid intervention of the firefighters, four terraced houses were could be saved. Traffic is temporarily interrupted on rue des Frères Faucher. In total, 25 firefighters were deployed for this operation.
