Formula 1 | Button: Williams 's 'good leadership' created 'family atmosphere'

Jenson Button appreciates seeing the evolution of Williams since the arrival of James Vowles at its head. The 2009 world champion returned to the team where he made his Formula 1 debut as an ambassador, and he now sees the benefits of the new management at the helm of the Grove structure.

“The atmosphere is the same as in 2000” Button told Crash. “It’s fun, exciting, obviously serious when it comes to racing, but it’s a nice family atmosphere.”

“When I joined the team as an ambassador, the atmosphere wasn't quite the same. There were people who had been there for twenty or even thirty years, and then there were “There has been an influx of new talent into the team.”

“You had to have the right leadership in place to get everyone working together. Today, I think people have more faith in the direction the team is going, which is very important when you're trying to work together to building the future.”

Button praises the work of Williams drivers, Alex Albon and Franco Colapinto, during the end of the 2024 season, and saw promising performances: “Alex and Franco have had good results with Williams. It's really refreshing to see a driver get in the car and be competitive from the start.”

“I think we all have a lot of respect for Alex, for his qualities and for what he is able to achieve in this sport. For someone young, it is very impressive to be able to push him in its entrenchments.”

“You learn from your teammates, whether they are young or old, whether they are inexperienced or experienced, you always learn from data. It is true that it helps the team to progress if it has two competitive drivers, who can learn each other and move the team forward.”

“In terms of points, the team hasn't scored as many points this season as they would have hoped, but they have found themselves in the latter part of the season, which is very good, and that therefore bodes well for the 2025 season.”
