Winter: In Fez-Meknes, National Mutual Aid mobilizes for the homeless

National Mutual Aid teams from the Fez-Meknes region, in partnership with local authorities, are mobilizing during this cold weather to help the homeless. They are leading an operation called “Warm Winter 2024-2025” which aims to provide assistance and comfort to the city’s homeless people, a population that is particularly vulnerable to the harsh winter weather.

The operation, the fourth of its kind since the start of the winter season, saw National Mutual Assistance teams deploy in the darkest corners of the city, where the homeless find refuge (abandoned buildings, deserted parks and other makeshift places).

This initiative, launched from the Bensouda Center, requires a budget of 700,000 DH, including 500,000 DH provided by the INDH and the rest by National Mutual Assistance. The approach of National Mutual Assistance is intended to be human and empathetic.

The teams do not just distribute aid, they engage in dialogue with the people they meet, seeking to understand the circumstances that led them to the street. The primary objective is to convince them to join the Bensouda Center, a haven of peace where they can benefit from medical care, hot meals and secure accommodation.
