Les Cars in Haute-, the cradle of French history

Ten years ago, the departmental archives of Haute- presented an exhibition dedicated to the Pérusse des Cars. The documents on display, all previously unpublished, shed light on the origins of this important Limousin aristocratic family. This magnificent display, designed by graphic designer Raymond Rossignol, won over historians and other visitors.

Exhaustive research dates back to the 13th century. “We don't know much about what happened before that time, because we have very few documents. We know that the Pérusses, a family of knights responsible for guarding the castles, were close to the Viscounts of ,” the archives specify.
