Saint-Louis hosts the National Rice Culture Conference from January 16 to 18, 2025

The Interprofessional Rice Committee of Senegal (CIRIZ), in collaboration with the Société d’Aménagement et d’Exploitation des Terres du Delta (SAED) and the decentralized structures of the Ministry, will organize national rice growing meetings at the Diamarek hotel in Saint -Louis, from January 16 to 18, 2025a-t-on appris.

This major meeting will bring together all stakeholders in the sector, rice stakeholders to analyze the challenges facing the rice sector and identify the solutions necessary to achieve the objectives of food sovereignty, in accordance with the Senegal 2050 vision.

This initiative is part of the implementation of the “Senegal 2050: National Transformation Agenda”, initiated by President Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye and Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko, aimed at promoting a sovereign, just and prosperous Senegal. To materialize this ambitious vision, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Livestock, under the leadership of Mr. Mabouba Diagne, is mobilizing all stakeholders in the rice value chain.

The Saint-Louis region, resonant with its rich past in rice cultivation, will be the focal point for intense exchanges on current issues in the sector. Participants will have the opportunity to discuss the various constraints affecting the rice value chain and propose innovative ways to remove these obstacles.

These meetings will mark a decisive turning point in Senegal’s commitment to promoting sustainable agriculture and ensuring food self-sufficiency, by making rice a fundamental pillar of its development strategy.
