the essential
On “ 2”, Saturday evening, the essayist returned to Jordan Bardella’s visit to Tonneins last November to understand this phenomenon.

The Agen essayist David Djaïz was, Saturday evening, on the set of the talk show “What a time! » on “France 2”. Léa Salamé received journalists and political editorialists there to imagine 2025. During the show, David Djaïz recalled being from Lot-et-Garonne, a rural department where the National Rally (RN) has achieved “stratospheric scores for 20 years “.

He notably returned to the arrival of Jordan Bardella in Tonneins on November 10. That day, the president of the RN hosted a political meeting and signed his book published the day before (“What I am looking for”).

With family

Among the 2,500 people present at this demonstration, some reported to David Djaïz the presence of a large number of young people aged 12 to 18. “You know, at Socialist Party or LR meetings, it’s a bit like a nursing home in comparison,” quipped the Agenais man before explaining: “People come with their families to Bardella meetings. They buy the book by pallets, in blocks of four, six or eight. When asked why buy so many, they answered: to give some at Christmas.”

Agenais does not want to ignore this “real phenomenon”. And to explain: “In a certain number of territories, there is despair, breakdown of services […]. We are seeing the entire liberal and democratic order that has accompanied us for 40 years decay. This is the new consensus, this is the new common sense.”

“We must rather listen, understand, respect”

On his Instagram account, the Agenais returned to this passage on Sunday, writing: “The National Rally is the leading party among active people, but also in small towns and rural areas. Certainly, it is an opportunist party which brings together very disparate angers and exasperations, but if it has risen to this level it is because our social contract is broken. And it is certainly not through contempt that we will combat it effectively. Rather, we must listen, understand, respect. And above all, act. At the root of the problems.”
