Cn Saturday, some 300 people gathered in the “Michel Fiévet” pavilion housed on the site of the Jule Tacheny circuit in Mettet to celebrate the 2024 Belgian champions in the different motorcycling disciplines.

The ceremony hosted by Léon Van Gestel and Yves Utens took place in the presence of Didier Frérot, vice-president of the national federation and Michel Fiévet, whose RUMESM club in Mettet is celebrating its centenary this year. Sick, the president of the FMB Christian Dejasse unfortunately had to give up going to the ceremony.

In addition to the Belgian champions and the medalists of the world championships and the European championships, the Young Sportsman of the Year trophy was awarded to the young road racing talent, Ferre Fleerackers. The Guidon d’Or trophy was once again awarded to Marvin Vanluchene for his third world title in Sidecar-Cross. Finally, the FMB environment prize was awarded to MC for the ecological management of its motocross circuit.

Finally, we will also note a particularly moving moment at the curtain-raiser of the ceremony: the tribute paid by the federation to the late Jonathan Savel, member of the MC Cadre Blanc d’Hautrage and killed last March in the exercise of his duties then that he was participating in an arrest as an agent of a specialized brigade of the Federal Police. Jonathan should have been participating in the 2025 Dakar right now and making one of his dreams come true. His partner and children were awarded the Sports Merit plaque by the federation posthumously.
