Abdou Vall Ahmed, observer at the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, welcomes “an important date in the history and geopolitics of Morocco, whose liberation had consequences for other African countries», like Mauritania and the French colonies in West Africa.
For her part, Mariam Chérif, a native of Morocco, living in Mauritania since 1972, explains having “followed this ceremony with great emotion, because of the wonderful memories of childhood and the patriotic fervor of the years of independence».
