Death in Bern: Missing witnesses after incident at the bar

Everything happened so quickly that evening that it was not possible for the police to collect the contact details of everyone present. And despite a first call for witnesses, the Bernese police are still struggling to locate them. As a reminder, on January 2, a sixty-year-old died in a bar on Kreuzgasse, in Bern.

A priori, he would have disturbed several other customers and security agents would have asked him to leave. The officers then allegedly used pepper spray, the man refusing to comply. This 62-year-old Swiss then lost consciousness, without knowing why, and finally died, despite resuscitation attempts.

The Bernese cantonal police are therefore asking customers who were in this bar on Kreuzgasse on Thursday January 2, shortly before 9 p.m., and who have not yet given their contact details, to call +41 32 324 85 31. The investigation will “probably take some time,” authorities said.
