83% of French people have a good opinion of Didier Deschamps, whom they describe as competent (87%), friendly (80%), unifying (77%) and exemplary (75%). Culture of winning (77%), sense of collective (75%), better image of the Blues (74%)… The French applaud his record and nominate him best coach in history, in French football but also in world football (70%).

However, 62% of respondents among the general public and even 75% of football fans believe that his departure is rather a good thing for the French team. To succeed him, the French are overwhelmingly expecting Zinedine Zidane (65%), who is well ahead of Thierry Henry (12%), Arsène Wenger (7%), Laurent Blanc (7%) or Christophe Galtier (3%).

Here are the main lessons from the latest survey carried out by Odoxa for Winamax and RTL. The survey was carried out using the quota method, on the internet, on Wednesday January 8 and Thursday January 9, 2025 among a sample of 1,005 people representative of the French population aged 18 and over, including 389 sports fans.
