Since Tuesday, police have ordered hundreds of residents to evacuate in the face of fires ravaging part of the city of Los Angeles. Some lost everything in the flames. Celebrities, including Paris Hilton and Laeticia Hallyday, have also lost their villas.
Emergency evacuations. The residents barely have time to pack a few clothes. On a hill overlooking Los Angeles (United States), a family has no choice but to flee quickly. “It’s the house where we got married, where our son was born, where we invested for our retirement”deplores a woman upset at having to abandon her home to the flames.
The fires leave behind fields of ruins and ashes over square kilometers. In Pacific Palisades, an upscale neighborhood in Los Angeles, a few trees are still standing. But the fire devoured the facades, roofs and furniture.
Villas worth several million euros have gone up in smoke, including that of Laeticia Hallyday, who says on social networks that “the fire took everything away”. Same thing for Paris Hilton, who fled with her dogs. On television, actress Jamie Lee Curtis was on the verge of tears: “This is where I live (…) all my friends lost their homes”she declared, upset.
Since Tuesday, 2,000 homes have been destroyed north of Los Angeles and 130,000 people have had to be evacuated.
