Da total cost of 92 million dirhams, financed by ONEE through a joint loan from the Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KFW), the French Development Agency (AFD), the European Investment Bank (EIB ) and the African Development Bank (AfDB), this project consists of the extension and equipment of the raw and treated water pumping stations, as well as the extension and equipment of the station treatment of drinking water, allowing an additional flow of 8,640 m³ per day.

It also includes the strengthening of raw and treated water supply by the installation of 400 mm diameter pipes over a length of 9,800 linear meters, the construction of two drinking water reservoirs with a capacity of 800 m³ and 500 m³ , as well as the strengthening of the power line.

This project will increase the production capacity of the treatment station to 12,960 m3 per day and the overall drinking water storage capacity to 3,350 m3 in the town of Taounate.

This project, which is part of the National Drinking Water Supply and Irrigation Program (PNAEPI) 2020-2027, the agreement of which was signed on January 13, 2020 before His Majesty King Mohammed, will make it possible to meet the needs in drinking water for the town of Taounate and neighboring communities by 2030.

the said project will benefit a global population of more than 149,000 inhabitants.

It will also contribute to improving the living conditions of the beneficiary populations and supporting the socio-economic development of this region as well as the effective management of its water resources.
