The traditional ceremony of greetings to the population took place on Sunday January 5 in front of an assembly that Jean-Pierre Rémy, mayor of the town, took care to greet without forgetting anyone. His thanks were addressed to Dominique Peurière, sub-prefect of Landes, Jérôme Baylac, president of the Community of communes of Pays Morcenais, Paul Carrère, mayor of Morcenx-la-Nouvelle as well as to the mayors of neighboring communes, to the honorary mayor Pierre Beyria, to the bodies formed with the representatives of the Morcenx gendarmerie and to the fire chief of the Ygos barracks, ending with all the elected officials and the presidents of associations. After painting a rather pessimistic picture of the international and especially national situation which he describes as catastrophic, highlighting the abysmal amount of French debt, he will point out that regions, departments and municipalities are asked to present a budget sincere and balanced.
Bilan communal – This end of 2023, beginning of 2024, the town saw the closure of its two main factories. First of all, the Beyria establishments, which, fortunately, were able to bounce back and save or even increase their jobs. Unfortunately, it was not the same for the oldest factory in the village, the Lamarque Sogy Bois establishments, which were liquidated, leading to 66 redundancies. Projects are being considered, but subject to the economic context.
Projects and achievements – The creation of a new recycling center is being studied, its location in the town having been validated. In 2024, FEC equipment funds enabled the construction of two bungalows for municipal employees and, as part of the Bosquet park, the pétanque room could be built. The football fields see the end of the work and become operational to accommodate the football association with more than 150 members. The major project which mobilized the commune and which was followed assiduously by part of the population concerns the Plan of Reference. A real compass in terms of development for the years to come, whatever the municipal team in place. The first stage will be the renovation of the public square. A new school canteen will be built with new equipment up to standards to replace the old one threatened with administrative closure. Its objective will be to produce 200 meals per day for the RPI municipalities. At the childhood level, the crèche is operating at full capacity, with requests outstripping places. At the initiative of Eric Lagrave, president of Souvenir Français, and the director of the Ygos school, 21 students went on a trip to Paris. Bearers of the historic flag of the Legion of Honor, they had the privilege of rekindling the flame at the tomb of the unknown soldier. A beautiful moment in a childhood memory.
Intercommunity was finally addressed by the first councilor, mentioning the field of photovoltaic panels having generated income of €55,000 for this year and the implementation of the study of the cycle plan. The ideal would be to be able to go on foot or by bike from Ygos to Arjuzanx, but given the cost, the work will be spread over time. It is by thanking Le Réveil Ygossais for its musical participation and by renewing his wishes to all the associations and their members who work for the life of the village that the mayor will wish an excellent year 2025. Which Jérôme Baylac and Paul will conclude Carrère welcoming local public action and the collective work accomplished. The final word will belong to Dominique Peurière who, in the name of the prefect of Landes, will send all his best wishes to the inhabitants, highlighting his deep respect for the tasks carried out on a daily basis by all the elected officials who are the link at most close to the population, and will share his simple wish for the continuation of a healthy, frank and effective collaboration throughout the year 2025.
