Belgium becomes the first country in Europe to ban puffs

Other countries want to do the same and bans are expected to rain down in the months to come.

No more nicotine sachets, no more puffs, and taxed e-liquids

It’s done. Since last Wednesday, Belgium has become the first country in the European Union to have banned the sale of disposable electronic cigarettes on its soil. After the implementation of taxation on e-liquids a year earlier, and the withdrawal of nicotine sachets from the market, royalty has now placed itself as a pioneer in the fight against puffs. A ban justified last March by Frank Vandenbroucke, Minister of Health, by the harmfulness of the products, the fact that they would target young people, and the harm they would cause to the environment.

Other countries should logically follow Belgium’s lead during 2025. In Switzerland, the ban has already been voted on by the House of Representatives. In the United Kingdom, the measure has also been passed and traders have until June 1 to finish emptying their stocks. , for its part, should not delay any longer. A few days ago, Catherine Vautrin, Minister of Health of France, again pleaded for an acceleration of the implementation of this ban, which now only has to be adopted by Parliament to finally be definitive.

It would not be surprising if other European countries followed suit.
