SENEGAL-DOUANES-TRAFIC / Ziguinchor: more than 10 billion CFA francs in counterfeit notes seized in 2024 (press release) – Senegalese press agency

Ziguinchor, Jan 7 (APS) – The Southern regional customs service, covering the administrative regions of Ziguinchor, Kolda and Sédhiou, seized, in 2024, an amount of more than 10,540,000,000 CFA francs in counterfeit bank notes, we learned from a press release sent to the APS.

The men of Colonel Malang Diédhiou, the regional director of southern customs, also seized 108.7 kilograms of cocaine compared to 2 kilograms in 2023, the text indicates.

He adds that, as part of the fight against illicit drug trafficking, 2,126 kilograms of Indian hemp were also seized compared to 489.8 kilograms in 2023, an increase of 1,636.2 kg.

The regional customs directorate also reports the seizure of a batch of fake medicines whose illicit sale could generate 33,643,000 CFA francs.

“In light of the above, it should be noted that the results recorded by the Southern Regional Directorate (DRS) are satisfactory, compared to those of previous years,” welcomed Colonel Malang Diédhiou quoted in the press release.
