Since January 6, the rue des Têtesa recognized route from Colmar, has become pedestrian. For the detractors of this decision taken by the town hall, don't worry, it is only temporary!
Indeed, as part of the project of pedestrianization from the city center, the town hall decided to test what rue des Têtes would be like without a car. The experiment will last 3 months.
Perplexed residents
But this decision is not unanimous. Near our colleagues at BFMTV, a resident said he was “completely against”.
On the networks, the reactions are also vehement, even though the project was not received positively when it was announced two years ago. “Why this test when 2 years ago the majority of residents and merchants on this street expressed their firm opposition to this project. Does the opinion of residents therefore count so little in the municipality's initiatives? “, we can read on the Facebook page “Infos sur Colmar”.
For its part, the town hall has long defended the pedestrianization of its city center, including rue des Têtes. “It’s not just about closing traffic to motorized vehicles. It is about fundamentally transforming public space, to make it greener, more attractive and conducive to relaxation. The benefits of this process are numerous for health, the environment and the living environment,” explains the community on its site.
Today, the pedestrianization of rue des Têtes is only in its early days. A first assessment will be drawn up in three months, at the end of the test. To perhaps take the definitive step.
