Most impactful phase postponed

Faced with this situation, the Werkvennootschap, the Flemish agency in charge of the site, has taken the decision to delay the most impactful part of the interventions at Jezus-Eik, which will be launched “after the end of the disruptive work at the Léonard intersection”. For four weeks, entrance 2 of the E411 in Jezus-Eik will have to be closed, as will the bridge. A closure once announced for the end of January, but which turns out to be postponed. No date has yet been set for this phase, but the month of March is mentioned.

The current long construction site at the Léonard intersection would only be the beginning…: here is the vast project on the table to completely transform the intersection

If the first work begins in January with an impact which should remain limited, the disruptions on the E411 will arrive well into February: the lanes will be narrowed and the speed limited to 50 km/h at Jezus-Eik.

After the famous four-week impact phase involving the total closure of the access and the bridge, the bridge will be reopened but only in the direction towards the center of the locality. Access to the E411 towards Namur will then be closed for 10 months.

“The accumulation of construction sites is damaging”

At the prospect of disruptions, neighboring municipalities do not hide their concerns. In Auderghem, Martine Maelschalck (MR) ensures that she has taken the lead by contacting the Flemish authorities this winter and announcing that it was unthinkable for the municipality to close the bridge and the exit before the reopening of the Ring roads. “The accumulation of construction sites is damaging. We have the impression that everything is jostling at the gate.”

“It’s getting worse and worse”: a stone’s throw from the Leonard crossroads, the small town of Jezus-Eik is experiencing construction sites and congestion

In Hoeilaart, there are already fears of an increase in congestion when access to Jezus-Eik is closed for a month. Concern for this phase also in Overijse. “The timing is not ideal.”recognizes Alderman Filip Boon (independent), who nevertheless says he is relieved that the month-long closure comes during a lull in Léonard.

Work at Jezus-Eik is expected to be completed in summer 2026.
