A driver who was driving headlong in the opposite direction Monday morning on Highway 40 met a tragic end in Montreal.
Around 9:30 a.m., emergency services received several calls reporting a violent accident on the metropolitan highway, not far from Côte-Vertu Boulevard, in the Saint-Laurent borough.
A small Toyota Matrix vehicle traveling at high speed in the wrong direction on the highway successively struck a car and a semi-trailer truck.

The driver who was traveling in the opposite direction had no luck: he was pronounced dead on the scene and his body was covered with a sheet, in the middle of the highway. Beside him was his badly damaged car.
Luckily, the driver of the car hit was not injured, at least not seriously.
The truck driver, who jackknifed following the impact, escaped unhurt.

The hypothesis favored by the Sûreté du Québec in this case is that of a voluntary action on the part of the driver of the Toyota Matrix, who thus wanted to end his life.
In the middle of the morning, investigators took steps to try to identify the victim.

Collision investigation specialists were dispatched to the scene of the tragedy to try to establish the exact circumstances of the event.
Consequently, a portion of Highway 40 East was completely closed in the area temporarily.
