7 p.m., Friday evening meeting time for the Terribles Guerriers Villeneuvois (TGV) players for their weekly training.

A club of friends, former rugby players, whether they played XIII or XV or simply sportsmen. A club to play sports, a club to play rugby, to get together, a club in which Gilles Marcuzzo was one of the pillars.

“He was always available, always smiling. And on the pitch, when he played at CAV, a true warrior. He never escaped. We could always count on him.” This, in summary, is what his former teammates said about him, Friday evening, under a light rain falling on the Descartes sports field, while the VBC basketball teams trained in the adjoining gymnasium. Some will take shelter, quietly, and watch the young basketball players train for a while.

It was on the initiative of the TGV managers and players that everyone gathered on this Friday evening, just a few days after the tragic disappearance of their friend. The TGV players are arriving little by little, after a week of work. The faces are closed. We kiss, we hug. We wish each other, “despite everything a happy new year…”. They enter the locker room and put on their uniforms, shorts, jerseys, crampons. We stay warm, sheltered under the umbrellas.

“A guy with real values”

Suddenly, a voice is raised. That of Fred Bouglon, co-president of the TGV. “Get closer. On a pitch, before the match, we make a circle. And today, it's for Marcu.
