A bold opening, if ever there was one, the group Voïvod offered an astonishing cover of the song Why is the world without love by Mireille Mathieu. Released in 1970, the sweet melody offered a completely different musical face once revisited with a metal twist by the group. Note that two of the members of the group, Dominic Laroche (bass) and Daniel Mongrain (guitar), are from Mauricie.
Trois-Rivières metal at the forefront
“I was surprised and satisfied with the result. It’s great teamwork and everyone gave it their all!” mentions Dominic Laroche, bassist of Voïvod, joined by The Nouvelliste. “I have only received positive comments from people,” adds the one who salutes the hard work of host Jean-René Dufort and his team.
“If you knew all the work behind the show and the time devoted: it’s impressive!” says Dominic Laroche who listened to the rendering… only in 2025.
“I was on stage during the broadcast on December 31, I listened to the repeat the next day,” reveals the musician.
“It’s quite a recognition to be in a show like Infoman which is as, if not more popular than the Bye bye!»
— Dominic Laroche, bassist of Voïvod
The metal group Voïvod which opened the Infoman show has two of its members in Mauricie. (-)
Note that the regional fiber was also hidden behind the sound recording of this opening since it was Francis Perron of Studio RadicArt, based in Notre-Dame-du-Mont-Carmel, who produced the audio recording of the segment as well as that transitions offered to Infoman.
“It’s a great experience. It was magical to discover the final result like everyone else on December 31 with my girlfriend and my little glass of wine,” says the musician, also a member of the group Bears of Legend. It must be said thatInfoman and the Bye bye bring together more than 3 million viewers in front of their screens.
A surprise and fairly rapid project, specifies Francis Perron, since the request from - arrived at the beginning of December, and the delivery, a few days later.
“The singer Snake is already melodic, I think the challenge was more in the pronunciation of the lyrics. It’s a song in French and it was important for us that people understood the text well,” underlines the man who has been collaborating with the group Voïvod for ten years.
The group will also perform at the end of January alongside the Montreal Symphony Orchestra as part of the concert Symphony voivod.
The mayor who drank milk and the “iguanophobic” producer
Still on the show Infomanthe mayor of Louiseville Yvon Deshaies made notable appearances in connection with two events which overwhelmed his municipality during the year: the presence of an aggressive turkey which caused turmoil and the unprecedented floods which paralyzed the city this summer, courtesy of the hurricane Debby.
-A showcase of choice for the politician who says he appreciated the rendering offered by the end-of-year show.
“I look Infoman at the end of the year like everyone else. I am satisfied, because Mr. Dufort did not ridicule me. Yes, I played along, but the meeting was taken seriously: he did not make a joke of it,” rejoices the chief magistrate, whose rather colorful tone sometimes earns him teasing.
It must be said that the editing game can be surprising and destabilizing for the participants who participate in Infoman. Yvon Deshaies, who presented the month of March in the end-of-year information review, said he was happy with the prominent place reserved for his municipality.
The captured meeting with Jean-René Dufort lasted around an hour and a half, while the host awarded him the laudatory title of “great leader”.
“We talk about Louiseville, and I’m proud of it!”
— Mayor Yvon Deshaies
“Mr Dufort was sensitive to my convictions,” underlines the mayor who was filmed drinking a flute… of milk in the company of the famous bespectacled host.
Besides, don’t look for the exact story behind this dairy wink: “There isn’t one. I couldn’t see myself drinking wine on screen, and water is boring!” said the politician in the hat, who has already been seen in a municipal council meeting with a glass of milk in his hand.
Later in the evening, viewers were able to watch a segment of the Bye bye 2024 which returned to the controversial interview between Réjean Tremblay and his partner Julie Bertrand on Denis Lévesque’s podcast. The actress from Trois-Rivières Christine Beaulieu personified the exuberant producer Julie Bertrand, companion of the sports journalist, with a lot of smoked glasses and a colorful dress.
An interview that went viral thanks to the duo’s astonishing remarks about politics, but also about traffic and wildlife (the famous iguanas). It was recorded live from their residence in Florida. Beaulieu brilliantly took over Madame Bertrand’s facial expressions which have made the rounds on the web.
It is still possible to watch the two end-of-year shows as catch-up on the Tou.tv website
