Eure-et-Loir and , and even the whole of Île-de-, were also placed on orange snow-ice alert this Saturday, January 4, according to the latest bulletin published by Météo France , at 10 a.m.

“A disturbance associated with a lot of mild air will sweep across the entire country in a southwest/northeast direction, this Saturday and the night from Saturday to Sunday. This disturbance will encounter a mass of cold air, causing snowfall and, above all, freezing rain for a few hours, until the mild air definitively takes over”, specify Météo France forecasters.

For the department of Eure-et-Loir, orange vigilance will come into force this afternoon, at 4 p.m., until 9 p.m. On the Yvelines side, it will start at 6 p.m. and end at 10 p.m.

Developments to be expected

“Snowfall is generally quite brief, but can be more persistent in the border departments of the Grand-Est, possibly adding up to 5 cm to the ground. Freezing rain will then last between 1 and 3 hours, potentially causing traffic difficulties. “The episode reaches the south of the area concerned at the end of Saturday afternoon and evacuates the northern borders at the end of the night from Saturday to Sunday”, indicates Météo France, in its bulletin.

Furthermore, the department of Eure-et-Loir has also been placed on yellow alert, for floods.
