Météo-France has placed 16 departments in the north-east of France on orange snow-ice alert due to “a winter episode requiring special attention” which is scheduled to begin Saturday evening.
The 16 departments will go into orange vigilance from Saturday evening, including two, Seine-Maritime and Oise, after 8:00 p.m., indicates the latest meteorologists' bulletin published at 6:00 a.m.
“A disturbance associated with a lot of mild air will sweep across the entire country in a southwest/northeast direction.t” Saturday and during the night from Saturday to Sunday, indicates Météo-France.
“A mass of cold air”
“This disturbance will encounter a mass of cold air, causing snowfall and especially freezing rain for a few hours, while the mild air definitively gains“, further specifies the meteorological site.
The departments concerned by vigilance are Aisne, Ardennes, Marne, Haute-Marne, Meurthe-et-Moselle, Meuse, Moselle, Nord, Oise, Pas-de-Calais, Bas-Rhin, Haut-Rhin, Seine-Maritime, Somme, Vosges and the Territoire de Belfort.
Météo-France calls for a “special vigilance“because the”black ice, even in small quantities, can be particularly annoying for road traffic“.
