“I’m sad for the traders,” sighs Évelyne, 75 years old. This Friday, January 3 in the morning, in rue Gambetta in Chelles (Seine-et-Marne), the residents are stunned. They look at the stores destroyed by the flames and can't understand what happened. It was around 2:45 a.m., in the night from Thursday to Friday, that the fire broke out. A neighbor raised the alarm. The firefighters arrived promptly. But the flames had already taken possession of the place and had already begun their work of destroying the businesses.
Luckily, no one was injured. But the damage, in these shops installed in metal structure buildings, is impressive. The Italian restaurant, a pizzeria, is destroyed. The adjoining bakery too. The medical analysis laboratory and the real estate agency were also attacked by the flames. But they should be able to reopen soon. The fire also reached the back of a car parked in front of the businesses. It was moved by its owner.
