Sometimes, you don't need to venture far from Paris to feel completely out of place. A little less than forty kilometers from the capital, or about an hour by car or 40 minutes by TER, the Yvelines department hides a small village which turns out to be a true bucolic jewel whose landscapes seem straight out of from an image from Epinal. The kind of places where you feel like you've taken a trip through time or at least landed in a separate world like you might see in fantasy films.
Go green in Cernay-la-ville
Cernay-la-ville is one of those picturesque towns where it's good to go when you need to go green. Nestled in the hills of the Chevreuse valley, the green village is as famous for its red brick houses and its traditional architecture inherited from the 18th century as for its sublime abbey, recently renovated and transformed into a hotel worthy of Hogwarts Castle in Harry Potter. A former Cistercian monastery dating from the 12th century, the building located in the middle of an 80-hectare park has been a luxury hotel estate for several months, under the leadership of the group Paris Society.
