The Université du Temps Libre 32 welcomes, in January, Richard Bonne, veterinary doctor and full member of the French Veterinary Academy, for a cycle of conferences at the Departmental Archives in Auch. The theme of these meetings, which will take place on Tuesdays January 7, 14 and 21, from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m., is “The domestication of animal species”.
Appearing more than 15,000 years ago, the phenomenon changed the history of humanity. Often associated with sedentarization, the domestication of plants accompanied the birth of agriculture, that of animals the birth of livestock breeding. It thus modified the availability of resources that humans exploited and accompanied the demographic growth of humans. Since then, around thirty animal species have been domesticated for their meat, their milk, their skin or their work.
