Météo-France places the Jura department on yellow alert for a risk of slippery phenomena (generally refreezing of pre-existing water on the road) until Friday January 3, 2025.

Refreezing of wet roads

Behind the disturbance which crossed the department, temperatures will drop sharply tonight and will quickly become negative from this Thursday, January 2, 2025 in the evening, hence the risk of refreezing of wet roads. This risk is more marked during nighttime clearings.

Up to – 10° on the relief

In the second part of the night, freezing drizzle is locally possible. Friday January 3, 2025 in the morning, the minimum temperatures are between -4°C and -1°C in the plains, -10°C to -5°C on the relief of the Jura. Temperatures will gradually rise on Friday morning, and will reach a maximum of 0 to 4°C in the plains.

In a press release, the Prefecture of Jura reminds users to be particularly vigilant on the road.

In case of travel:

● Equip yourself withspecial equipment ;

● Strictly respect diversions and traffic instructions;

● Turn on the low beam or fog lights ;

● Use ventilation and defrosting systems to enable the proper functioning of the

windshield wipers;

● Avoid accelerations and jerks;

● Do not overtake a snow removal vehicle in action;

● Never run an engine to heat the vehicle if it is blocked by snow, gas

exhaust can cause asphyxiation;

● Provide minimum equipment in the event of prolonged immobilization;

● Do not leave the vehicle for any other reason, only at the request of the rescuers.
