As expected, this 38th edition was one of records with the bar of 900 participants reached. Most of the registrants played the game of disguises and colors. For Antoine Corpel, the main thing was first to give himself a good test just a stone's throw from the cross-country races at the start of the year. “It was a Nice course and atmosphere. There are quite a few restarts and turns. I know Vannes a little. I love walking in the Remparts gardens and that motivated me to come,” says the man who spent the Christmas holidays with his parents in Belle île-en-Mer, near Sauzon.
Originally from Cherbourg (Manche), the Morbihan resident wanted to take the test before settling in Brest, where he will start a job in tourism. “The first objective is to qualify for the French long cross championships. Then, I will defend my title of Brittany short trail champion before Guerlédan, in June, for the inter-Celtic match,” adds Corpel, who was ahead of Vannes-based Brieuc Guiheneuc by around ten seconds.
Laurie Tourenne creates a surprise
On the women's side, Laurie Tourenne (EA Saint-Malo) added her name to the winners of the event. And yet, the 25-year-old Falkland woman had registered at the last moment. “We spent the weekend here with my boyfriend, who is from Morbihan. His brother works for the timekeeper and I thought, “Why not?” “. It was the first time I did this kind of race. It's just fun! I’ve been running for several years but I’ve been serious about it since March,” confides the Bretilienne.
